MOT Preparation

Under the VOSA requirements, a MOT test will check the following components before issuing a MOT certificate:

  • Vehicle Identification Number
  • Registration Plate
  • Lights
  • Steering & Suspension
  • Wipers & washer bottle
  • Windscreen
  • Horn
  • Seatbelts
  • Seats
  • Fuel System
  • Emissions
  • Bodywork
  • Doors
  • Mirrors
  • Wheels & Tyres
  • Brakes

Batteries

Trufit offers replacement batteries suitable for your car or van.

Steering & Suspension

Trufit will check the Steering and Suspension components for correct condition and that the operation is correct.

Wheel Alignment & Tyres

Trufit will check the vehicle's wheels and tyres for condition, security, tyre size and type and tread depth.

Bosch Engine Diagnostics

Trufit uses Bosch diagnostic equipment to identify issues with your vehicle. Sensors in your vehicle continually report to the ECU (Engine Control Unit) on how they are performing. If a problem occurs, it logs a fault code on the ECU’s memory. A diagnostic code reader has to be used to read the fault or message and to clear any fault codes from the memory. Faults that create a fault code will not always activate a warning light.

Brakes

Trufit will test the efficiency of the vehicle's braking performance, condition and operation. Most vehicles are tested on a rolling road brake tester.

Vehicle Lights

Trufit will check the condition, operation, security and colour of your vehicle’s lights and see if the headlamp aim is correct.

Oil Change

Even if you don’t use your car very often,  the oil should be changed at least every year or every 10,000–12,000 km (6,214 - 7,457 miles).

A new engine with little or no wear can probably get by on 7,500 mile oil changes, but as an engine accumulates miles, blowby increases. This dumps more unburned fuel into the crankcase which dilutes the oil. This causes the oil to break down. So if the oil isn't changed often enough, you can end up with accelerated wear and all the engine problems that come with it (loss of performance and fuel economy, and increased emissions and oil consumption).
